Hagopian Rugs Featured at the University of Michigan's Center for Armenian Studies
A number of antique, handmade rugs from Hagopian were recently featured in a performance at the University of Michigan's Center for Armenian Studies, beautifully enhancing the ambiance of the evening. Producer and narrator Sona Tatoyan, alongside actor Ayhan Hülagü, captivated a full house at the Keene Theater with their interactive performance, "Azad Storytelling: Interactive Karagöz Puppetry Experience." The show celebrated the ancient art of Karagöz shadow puppetry, which originated in the Ottoman Empire, and was further enriched by the carefully decorated set. Vicken Mouradian, the academic program coordinator, expressed pride in the event's success and emphasized the strong community support that sustains the center.
